The project offers numerous benefits to local residents, businesses and communities. It will provide an opportunity to shorten the distance people have to travel, thus reducing the carbon footprint, and will support the economy through the creation of jobs and trade for related businesses. We will consider how we can help to address funeral poverty and the build will be as environmentally friendly as possible, through its design and the use of technology.
The site we have chosen will not have any detrimental impact on local communities and it will be designed with a very natural, green feel and look, including the planting of new trees, and it will be sensitive to the nature of the site and the purpose it will be used for.
Consultation carried out with the local community and funeral directors showed that there is strong support for the development of a new crematorium in the area; 93% of residents who responded were in favour of the development.
We hope that people will appreciate how much focus is being put into creating a much-needed facility with a sense of place at its heart.
The council’s priorities are to support local residents and businesses, grow the local economy and value our environment and we are confident that this project contributes to all those goals.
